Is the yellow one in the violet family?

Yes, it's one of the violets. Since I'm not a botanist , I don't know which of the ones it is.

One of the Maine wildflowers that I'm hoping to see is fringed polygala. There's quite a bit of it in Waterville. Do you have that species in Rangeley?

My word verification is achnes which seems appropriately close to achenes, given the current conversation.

I haven't come across it as of yet, but I have been looking for it. Rangeley is so much cooler and harsh that some plants don't do so well. Oaks or example are planted here, but don't occur up here, same with poison ivy.
